MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF
October 31, 2011
VII. REPORTS OF THE GENERAL FACULTY, COLLEGES, SCHOOLS, AND COMMITTEES.
Election of Faculty Representatives to the Undergraduate Studies Advisory Committee (D 9100).
Chair Friedman announced that the Faculty Council needed to elect two new members from the following four nominees, made by the FCEC, for individuals to serve terms on the Undergraduate Studies Advisory Committee:
- Dr. Lee Ann Kahlor, associate professor, advertising
- Dr. Xiaojing (John) Zhang, associate professor, biomedical engineering
- Dr. Charlotte Canning, professor, theatre and dance
- Dr. John C. Batterton, lecturer, biological sciences
Chair Friedman introduced Professor Kahlor, who made a brief statement about her background and interests in serving on the committee. The other three nominees were unable to attend the meeting so Chair Friedman read statements they had prepared about their backgrounds and interests regarding committee service. Professor Lee Chesney spoke in support of his colleague, Professor Canning. Chair Friedman asked for nominations from the floor, and there were none. Ballots were distributed and collected for tabulation. Later in the meeting after the ballots were counted, Chair Friedman announced that Professors Canning and Kahlor had been elected to serve on the Undergraduate Studies Advisory Committee; he thanked the other candidates for their participation and willingness to serve.
