STATUS OF LEGISLATION APPROVED BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL OR THE GENERAL FACULTY.

D. ITEMS UNDER REVIEW BY THE OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR.

D 7825-7844 Proposed revisions of the Handbook of Operating Procedures, Sections 3.18 and 4.03 from the Faculty Grievance Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 9, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the President on February 16, 2010. In a letter dated March 22, 2010, the President's office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. Upon the recommendations from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf, the proposals were approved by the President and transmitted to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Assessment on April 23, 2010. Final approval resides with UT System.

D 8942-8946 Proposed Deletion of Majors in Arabic Language and Literature, Hebrew Language and Literature, Persian Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Literature, and their Respective Departmental Honors Programs; Consolidation into a New Major in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures and its Honors in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on of September 1, 2011, on a no-protest basis with a protest deadline of September 11, 2011. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. A protest was received against this item in the Office of the General Faculty; however, on September 13, 2011, the protest was withdrawn, and the proposal was transmitted to the Provost on behalf of the President. The proposal was subsequently approved by the Provost and transmitted to UT System on October 17, 2011. Final approval resides with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

D 9021-9024 Proposed Deletion of Majors in Czech Language and Culture, Russian Language and Culture, and their Respective Honors Programs; Consolidation with Existing Major of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies and its Honors Programs with Some Changes to that Major in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on October 6, 2011. The Secretary has classified this as legislation of exclusive application and of primary interest only to a single college or school. The Faculty Council approved the changes by no-protest on October 13, 2011. On October 17, 2011, the proposal was transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president. On December 19, 2011, the proposals were approved and transmitted to UT System. Final approval resides with UT System with notification to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

D 9132-9134 Proposed Changes to the Basic Education Requirements.Posted on the Faculty Council website on October 26, 2011. The secretary has classified this as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. The motion was approved by the Council at its meeting on October 31, 2011, and transmitted to the Provost on behalf of the President on November 2, 2011. On December 21, 2011, the proposal was approved and transmitted to UT System. Final approval resides with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board..
