STATUS OF LEGISLATION APPROVED BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL OR THE GENERAL FACULTY.

ITEMS COMPLETED SINCE THE LAST REPORT.

D 9021-9024 Proposed Deletion of Majors in Czech Language and Culture, Russian Language and Culture, and their Respective Honors Programs; Consolidation with Existing Major of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies and its Honors Programs with Some Changes to that Major in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on October 6, 2011. The Secretary has classified this as legislation of exclusive application and of primary interest only to a single college or school. The Faculty Council approved the changes by no-protest on October 13, 2011. On October 17, 2011, the proposal was transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president. On December 19, 2011, the proposals were approved and transmitted to UT System. On January 25, 2012, UT System approved the legislation, which was then transmitted to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). On January 31, 2012, THECB indicated that their approval is not needed.

Proposed Changes to the Red McCombs School of Business Chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014.Posted on the Faculty Council website on December 1, 2011. The Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review (CUDPR) recommended approval of the changes on October 12, 2011, and forwarded the proposals to the Office of the General Faculty. The secretary classified the following proposals as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. The Faculty Council approved these proposals on a no-protest on December 12, 2011, and they were transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on December 14, 2011. On March 2, 2012, Vice Provost Gretchen Ritter transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. . On March 13, 2012, UT System approved the legislation with formal notification to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review (CUDPR) recommended approval of the changes on December 14, 2011, and forwarded the proposals to the Office of the General Faculty. The Faculty Council considered each proposal on a no-protest basis with deadlines imposed by classification.The secretary classified the following proposals as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. The Faculty Council approved these proposals on a no-protest on January 9, 2012, and they were transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 10, 2012. On March 3, 2012, Vice Provost Gretchen Ritter transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. On March 13, 2012, UT System approved the legislation with formal notification to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

D 9348 Resolution from the Educational Policy Committee Concerning Textbook Orders.Posted on the Faculty Council website on January 12, 2012. On January 23, 2012, the Council endorsed the resolution. Transmitted to the president on January 24 2012. On February 15, 2012, the president acknowledged receipt, thanking the Council for the resolution, which supports the needs of the students.

D 9349-9350 Proposed Change in Requirements for the Writing Flag in the Core Curriculum. Posted on the Faculty Council website on January 12, 2012. The secretary has classified this as general legislation. The Council approved the proposal at its January 23, 2012, meeting. , It was transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 24, 2012. On March 5, 2012, Vice Provost Gretchen Ritter transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. On March 13, 2012, UT System approved the legislation with formal notification to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

D 9501-9503 Resolution Authorizing Formation of the ad hoc Joint Committee of the Graduate Assembly and Faculty Council on Graduate Student Fellowships. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 15, 2012. On February 20, 2012, the Faculty Council endorsed the resoltuion. On February 21, 2012, the resolution was transmitted to the president for his information. No further action is required.
