STATUS OF LEGISLATION APPROVED BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL OR THE GENERAL FACULTY.

D. ITEMS UNDER REVIEW BY THE OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR.

D 7825-7844 Proposed revisions of the Handbook of Operating Procedures, Sections 3.18 and 4.03 from the Faculty Grievance Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 9, 2010, and classified as general legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 15, 2010. Transmitted to the President on February 16, 2010. In a letter dated March 22, 2010, the President's office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. Upon the recommendations from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf, the proposals were approved by the President and transmitted to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Planning and Assessment on April 23, 2010. Final approval resides with UT System.

  • Teaching Assistant and Assistant Instructor Grievance Procedures (D 7836-7844).

D 8936-8939 Proposed Revisions to UT Austin’s HOP 3.16 Threatened Faculty Retrenchment. Posted on the Faculty Council website on August 30, 2011. The secretary has classified this as major legislation. It was approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on September 19, 2011. The General Faculty approved the legislation on a no-protest basis on October 5, 2011. It was transmitted to the president on October 7, 2011. In a letter dated October 13, 2011, the president’s office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On December 16, 2011, Provost Leslie responded with his recommendation for approval. On February 24, 2012, President Powers transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. This proposal replaces D 8624-8628, which was withdrawn. Final approval resides with UT System. Also see D 9007 Notice of No-Protest Procedure.

D 8942-8946 Proposed Deletion of Majors in Arabic Language and Literature, Hebrew Language and Literature, Persian Language and Literature, Turkish Language and Literature, and their Respective Departmental Honors Programs; Consolidation into a New Major in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures and its Honors in the College of Liberal Arts Chapter in the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on of September 1, 2011, on a no-protest basis with a protest deadline of September 11, 2011. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. A protest was received against this item in the Office of the General Faculty; however, on September 13, 2011, the protest was withdrawn, and the proposal was transmitted to the Provost on behalf of the President. The proposal was subsequently approved by the Provost and transmitted to UT System on October 17, 2011. Final approval resides with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board

D 9108-9117 Motion to Update the Core Curriculum Course Lists for the Undergraduate Catalog, 2012-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on October 25, 2011.The Secretary has classified this as general legislation. The motion was approved by the Council at its meeting on October 31, 2011, and transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on November 2, 2011. On February 15, 2012, Vice Provost Gretchen Ritter transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. Final approval resides with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

D 9132-9134 Proposed Changes to the Basic Education Requirements.Posted on the Faculty Council website on October 26, 2011. The secretary has classified this as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. The motion was approved by the Council at its meeting on October 31, 2011, and transmitted to the Provost on behalf of the President on November 2, 2011. On December 21, 2011, the proposal was approved and transmitted to UT System. Final approval resides with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board..

The Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review (CUDPR) recommended approval of the changes on December 14, 2011, and forwarded the proposal to the Office of the General Faculty. The Faculty Council approved the proposal on a no-protest on January 9, 2012, which was subsequently transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on January 10, 2012.
