DOCUMENTS OF THE GENERAL FACULTY
SPECIAL MEETING OF THE GENERAL FACULTY
The University of Texas at Austin
Hogg Memorial Auditorium
Monday, March 25, 2013
3:15 p.m.ORDER OF BUSINESS
I. FALL BREAK PROPOSAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY ACADEMIC CALENDAR COMMITTEE (D 10139-10147).
The General Faculty will consider and vote on legislation that proposes adding a fall break to the University Academic Calendar. The proposed break would occur on the Monday and Tuesday of the ninth week of the fall semester each year, and classes would begin on the fourth Monday in August to maintain seventy days of instruction in the fall semester. The legislation was proposed by the University Academic Calendar Committee and approved by the Faculty Council on January 28, 2013. Since this is major legislation requiring a vote of the General Faculty, it was then circulated to the General Faculty on a no-protest basis. Because the number of protests received totaled sixty-one and exceeded the required number of twenty-five, the legislation must be presented at a meeting of the UT Austin General Faculty. For your reference, the notice of the specially called meeting can be found in documents D 10240-10273b.
Voting members of the General Faculty may check in at Hogg Memorial Auditorium on Monday starting at 2:45 p.m. The meeting will begin promptly at 3:15 p.m. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MEETING VENUE HAS CHANGED FROM THAT GIVEN IN THE PREVIOUS MEETING NOTICE.
