Powers Jr. presided over the regular annual meeting of the General Faculty for the academic year 2012-13, which was held on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 2:15 p.m. in the Main Building, Room 212. After calling the meeting to order and extending greetings to everyone, the president invited Secretary Sue Greninger (human development and family sciences) to present the minutes of the previous meeting.

Secretary Greninger asked if there were any corrections to the minutes. Since there were none, she called for a vote to approve the minutes as posted. Faculty Council Chair Martha Hilley (music) thanked Secretary Sue Greninger for the dedication and commitment to her position, which presumably made it easy for the administrative staff in the Office of the General Faculty to work with her. She then reported that Professor Dean Neikirk (electrical and computer engineering) was the committee’s choice for the secretary position. President Powers asked if there were any nominations for secretary from the floor. Since there were none, he declared the nominations closed.

President Powers called for a vote, and Professor Neikirk was unanimously elected to serve as Secretary of the General Faculty starting September 1, 2013. The president then echoed Chair Hilley’s gratitude toward Secretary Greninger for serving as Secretary of the General Faculty since January 1, 2004, and asked the audience for a round of applause.
