MINUTES OF THE REGULAR FACULTY COUNCIL MEETING OF
MAY 6, 2013

I.
REPORT OF THE SECRETARY.

Secretary Sue Greninger (human development and family sciences) noted that the online version of the secretary’s report erroneously reported that the proposal of the Bachelor of Science and Arts (BSA) degree from the College of Natural Sciences had passed as no-protest legislation, when it had, in fact, received three protests. She apologized for any confusion this might have caused and explained that the legislation would be presented for action by the Council later in the meeting. The secretary then pointed out the following completed items from the current secretary’s report (D 10370-10377): (1) President Powers acknowledged receipt of the Council’s resolution expressing opposition to pending Texas legislation that would allow broadened rights to carry firearms on campus, (2) the president made appointments to the University Co-op Board of Directors and the Intercollegiate Athletics Councils for Men and for Women from the slates submitted by the Council and (3) the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board granted final approval to the proposal from the School of Undergraduate Studies to update the core curriculum, which had been approved by the Faculty Council on March 18, 2013.
