D 10139-10147 Fall Break Proposal from the University Academic Calendar Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council’s website on November 29, 2012. The secretary has classified this legislation as being of major interest to the University faculty at-large. The proposal was discussed by the Faculty Council at its meeting on December 10, 2012. On January 28, 2013, the Faculty Council approved the proposal. Because the proposal is classified as major legislation, it must, according to the by-laws of the Council, be submitted to the voting members of the General Faculty on a no-protest basis. The secretary received fifty-nine formal protests to the by March 8, 2013, therefore, a special meeting of the General Faculty has been scheduled for March 25, at 3:15 in the Student Activities Center Auditorium (SAC 1.402). The rules state that at a special meeting a quorum shall consist of 15% of the total number of voting members of the General Faculty. The rules state further that if a quorum is not present to consider action of the Faculty Council that has been protested, then the legislation shall be returned to the Faculty Council for action.
