D 10139-10147 Fall Break Proposal from the University Academic Calendar Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council’s website on November 29, 2012. The secretary classified this legislation as being of major interest to the University faculty at-large. The proposal was discussed by the Faculty Council at its meeting on December 10, 2012. On January 28, 2013, the Faculty Council approved the proposal. Having been classified as major legislation, it was, according to the by-laws of the Council, submitted to the voting members of the General Faculty on a no-protest basis. The secretary received sixty-one formal protests by March 8, 2013, therefore, a special meeting of the General Faculty was scheduled for March 25, at 3:15 in the Hogg Memorial Auditorium (changed from the SAC 1.402). At that meeting, fifty-eight voting members of the General Faculty voted against the proposal, and twenty-seven members voted in favor. The proposal was defeated; no further action can be taken. For reference, the notice of no-protest procedures can be found on D 10222, and the meeting notice can be found on D 10240-10273b.
