STATUS OF LEGISLATION APPROVED BY THE FACULTY COUNCIL OR THE GENERAL FACULTY.

E. ITEMS UNDER REVIEW BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT.

D 8456-8458 Proposed Revisions to the Departmental Budget Council Constitution and Authority in the Handbook of Operating Procedures. Posted on the Faculty Council website on November 3, 2010. The secretary has classified this as general legislation. It was approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on November 15, 2010, and transmitted to the President on November 16, 2010. On November 22, 2010, President Powers asked Provost Leslie and Vice Presidents Hegarty and Ohlendorf for written recommendations regarding the legislation. On December 7, 2010. Provost Leslie recommended approval of the legislation. Final approval resides with UT System.

D 8512-8513 Proposed Changes to the Voting Rights of the General Faculty in the Handbook of Operating Procedures. Posted on the Faculty Council website on January 10, 2011. The secretary has classified this as major legislation. Approved by the Faculty Council on January 24, 2011, and by the voting members of the General Faculty on February 7, 2011. Transmitted to the president on February 8, 2011. On February 10, 2011, President Powers requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Dr. Steve Leslie and Mrs. Patricia Ohlendorf. On March 8, 2011, Provost Leslie recommended approval of the legislation. On October 20, 2011, the secretary received an update from the President's office indicating that the current wording of the proposal raises questions of intent and interpretation, which will need to be answered by the Faculty Rules and Governance Committee before action will be taken by the president. Final approval of this legislation resides with UT System.

D 8563 Revision of the Handbook of Operating Procedures, Chapter 1, Section V. Clarifying the Voting Rights of Faculty in Colleges, Schools, and Departments. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 8, 2011. The secretary has classified this as general legislation. The legislation was approved by the Faculty Council at its meeting on February 14, 2011, and transmitted to the President on February 15, 2011. In a letter dated February 22, 2011, the President’s office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On March 2, 2011, Provost Leslie recommended approval of the revision. Final approval resides with UT System.

D 8997 Revisions Proposed by the Graduate Assembly to Recent Amendments to the In Absentia Policy Passed by the Faculty Council in May 2011. Posted on the Faculty Council website on September 16, 2011. The secretary has classified this proposal as general legislation. The Faculty Council approved the revision on a no-protest basis on September 26, 2011. Transmitted to the President on September 27, 2011. In a letter dated October 4, 2011, the President’s Office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On March 19, 2012, Provost Leslie recommended approval of the proposal. Final approval resides with UT System.

D 9505-9509 Proposed Revisions to the Language in the Handbook of Operating Procedures and the Policy Memoranda Regarding No-Protest Procedure. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 17, 2012. The secretary has classified this proposal as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. On February 29, 2012, the Faculty Council approved the proposal on a no-protest basis and transmitted it to the president on March 1, 2012. In a letter dated March 6, 2012, the president’s office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On March 21, 2012, Provost Leslie recommended approval of the proposal. Final approval resides with UT System.

D9686-9688 University of Texas at Austin Guidelines for Implementing the Rules and Regulations of the Board of Regents’ Rule 31102: Evaluation of Tenured Faculty. Posted on the Faculty Council's website and transmitted to the president on May 1, 2012. Approved by the Faculty Council on April 23, 2012. Transmitted to the president on May 3, 2012. In a letter dated May 14, 2012, the president’s office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf. On May 29, 2012, Provost Leslie recommended approval. Final approval resides with the president.Final approval resides with the president.
