REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE TO NOMINATE FACULTY MEMBERS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY CO-OP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Dr. Hillary Hart (distinguished senior lecturer, civil, architectural, and environmental engineering), chair of the Faculty Council Committee to Nominate Faculty Members for Appointment to the University Co-op Board of Directors, has filed with the secretary of the Faculty Council the report set forth below.

Notice is hereby given that this report will be presented to the Faculty Council for action at its meeting on March 17, 2014. At that meeting additional nominations may be made from the floor.

REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE TO NOMINATE FACULTY MEMBERS FOR APPOINTMENT TO THE UNIVERSITY CO-OP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Each spring the chair of the Faculty Council appoints a committee to nominate a panel of five members of the General Faculty of The University of Texas at Austin for appointment to each of the Intercollegiate Athletics Councils, and a panel of three members of the General Faculty of The University of Texas at Austin for appointment to the University Co-op Board of Directors. Each panel shall, upon approval by the Faculty Council, be transmitted to the president with the recommendation that he or she select one representative from the panel for appointment to the University Co-op Board of Directors to serve a four-year term of service. If the president declines or, because of rejection of the post by all nominees, is unable to appoint any of the nominees, the president may either request that the Council, through its committee, make additional nominations or invoke a different procedure for selecting the appointees as he may deem appropriate, provided that such different procedure shall include consultation with the Council's committee before the president offers the appointment to any faculty member.
Accordingly, the Faculty Council committee (Martha F. Hilley, chair) submits the nominations set forth below.

  1. The present faculty composition of the University Co-op Board of Directors is as follows:

    Michael G. Hasler, professor, information, risk, and operations management (chair, term open)
    Elizabeth Cullingford, professor, English (term expires 2014 

    Diana M. DiNitto, professor, school of social work (term expires 2015)
    Steven J. Goode, professor, law (term expires 2016)
    Robert H. Wilson, professor, public affairs (term expires 2017)

    The panel of faculty being nominated for appointment in 2014 for a four-year term to the University Co-op Board of Directors is as follows:

    Hillary Hart, distinguished senior lecturer, civil, architectural, and environmental engineering
    Martha F. Hilley, professor, music
    Michael Mackert, associate professor, advertising
