Faculty Educational Benefit Proposal from the Faculty Welfare Committee (D 11169-11170
Dr. Blinda McClelland (committee chair and professor, music) reminded council members of the proposal to extend staff educational benefits, which include the ability to take up to three tuition-free hours of transcript-recognized course work per semester, to faculty members. Dr. McClelland said that she believes this could provide an important recruiting and retention tool for faculty and will bring the University in line with all top tier public universities. She also requested that faculty members not be restricted to courses within their own study area, so that room for personal and professional development is available.
After a vote taken by Chair Hart, the Faculty Educational Benefit Proposal passed unanimously
