REPORT OF THE SECRETARY.

Secretary Dean Neikirk (professor, electrical and computer engineering) gave a brief summary of the secretary’s report (D 11528-11544) noting that the memorial resolution for Professor Emeritus Paul Olefsky from music had been received and was being reviewed and formatted for President Powers’ signature, and he expressed his appreciation to the memorial resolution committee. In terms of legislation, Secretary Neikirk reported that UT System had granted final approval on grievance procedures for faculty and teaching assistants and assistant instructors (D 7825-7835 and D 7836-7844), the In Absentia policy (D 8997), the C13 IT Committee composition revision, and twenty-four Undergraduate Catalog proposals (communication (7), engineering (5), education (3), geosciences (4), liberal arts (1), natural sciences (3), and undergraduate studies (1)). In addition, Secretary Neikirk reported that President Powers had approved the following two legislative items indicating they had been implemented: Guidelines for Tenured Faculty Evaluations (D 9686-9688), and Graduate Student Fellowships (D 10042-10087).
