ITEMS COMPLETED SINCE THE LAST REPORT.

D 10136-10138 Proposed Changes to the Function of the Faculty Welfare Committee, a Standing Committee of the General Faculty in the Handbook of Operating Procedures 2-1050-PM. Posted on the Faculty Council’s website on November 29, 2012. The secretary classified this as general legislation. The Faculty Council approved the proposal at its meeting on December 10, 2012. The proposal was subsequently transmitted to the president on December 13 2012. On December 17, 2012, the president’s office requested recommendations from Executive Vice President and Provost Steven Leslie and Vice President Patricia Ohlendorf. In a letter dated January 7, 2013, Vice President Ohlendorf recommended approval. On January 23, 2013, Provost Leslie recommended approval. April 22, 2013, President Powers transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. On May 8, 2013, UT System granted final approval.

D 10193-10194 Proposed Q-Drop Policy in the General Information. Posted on the Faculty Council website on February 7, 2013. The secretary classified this proposal as legislation of general interest. The Faculty Council approved the proposal at its meeting on February 18, 2013. The proposal was transmitted to the president on February 19, 2013. On April 19, 2013, the president’s office requested Executive Vice President and Provost Steven Leslie’s rrecommendation regarding the legislation. On April 25, 2013, Provost Leslie recommended approval. On May 6, 2013, President Powers transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval. On May 23, 2013, UT System granted final approval.

D 10290-10292 Proposed General Information Catalog Language on Internal Transfers as Approved by the Educational Policy Committee.Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 10, 2013. The secretary classified this proposal as general legislation. The Faculty Council approved the proposal at its meeting on April 15, 2013. The legislation was subsequently transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president on April 16, 2013. On April 23, 2013, on behalf of the president, Vice Provost Gretchen Ritter transmitted the legislation to UT System recommending approval.On May 3, 2013, UT System granted final approval.

D 10295-10306 Proposed Changes to the Bachelor of Arts Degree Program in the College of Natural Sciences Section in the Undergraduate Catalog 2014-2016. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 11, 2013. The secretary classified this proposal as legislation of general interest to more than one college or school. The Committee on Undergraduate Degree Program Review recommended approval of the proposal on April 3, 2013, and forwarded the proposed changes to the Office of the General Faculty. The legislation was circulated to members of the Council on a no-protest basis. Protests were received by the deadline from voting members of the Faculty Council; therefore, the legislation was presented to the Faculty Council on May 6, 2013. At that meeting, the members voted to approve the recommended changes. On May 7, 2013, the proposal was transmitted to the provost on behalf of the president. On May 13, 2013, Vice Provost Ritter transmitted the proposal to UT System recommending approval and requesting that it be forwarded to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for consideration. On June 21, 2013, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board granted final approval.

D 10325 Schedule for Meetings of the Faculty Council in 2013-2014.Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 22, 2013. The secretary classified the schedule as general legislation. The legislation was sent to members of the Faculty Council for consideration on a no-protest basis with a protest deadline of May 3, 2013. On April 22, 2013, a voting member of the General Faculty protested the schedule, which was subsequently approved by the Council at its May 6, 2013, meeting. Final approval resides with the Faculty Council with formal notification to the president.

D 10326-10327 Resolution Regarding UTS 180: "Conflicts of Interest, Conflicts of Commitment, and Outside Activities" Policy. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 22, 2013. The secretary classified the schedule as general legislation, which was sent to members of the Faculty Council for consideration on a no-protest basis with a protest deadline of May 3, 2013. On April 22, a voting member of the General Faculty protested the schedule, which was subsequently approved by the Council at its May 6, 2013, meeting. On May 21, 2013, President Powers transmitted the report to UT System on behalf of the Faculty Council. Final approval resides with the Faculty Council with formal notification to the president. No further action was required.

D 10356-10357 Report of the Committee to Nominate Faculty Council Officers for 2013-2014. Posted on the Faculty Council website on May 1, 2013. At its special meeting on May 6, 2013, the 2013-14 Faculty Council elected the following officers to serve on the Faculty Council Executive Committee for 2013-14: Professor William Beckner, chair elect (mathematics), Professors Brian L. Evans (electrical and computer engineering), Elizabeth T. Gershoff (human development and family sciences), and Susan R. Klein (law). Other members of the 2013-14 Faculty Council Executive Committee are Dr. Hillary Hart, chair (civil, architectural, and environmental engineering), Professor Martha F. Hilley, past chair (music), Professor Dean P. Neikirk, secretary (electrical and computer engineering), and Professor L. Michael White, chair, Graduate Assembly (religious studies and classics).

D 10359-10361 Proposed Policy on Recognition of Undergraduate Academic Minors on Official University Transcripts as Approved by the Educational Policy Committee. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 22, 2013. The secretary classified this as general legislation. The Faculty Council approved the proposal at its meeting on May 6, 2013. On May 7, 2013, the proposal was transmitted to the president. On May 9 , 2013, the president’s office requested written recommendation regarding the legislation from Executive Vice President and Provost Steven Leslie and Vice President Patricia Ohlendorf. Upon recommendations from Provost Leslie and Vice President Ohlendorf, the proposals were approved by the president and transmitted to UT System on August 6, 2013. On August 20, 2013, UT System granted final approval.

D 10362-10369 UT Faculty Council Response to the UT System Task Force Report on the Evaluation of Faculty Teaching. Posted on the Faculty Council website on April 23, 2013. The secretary classified this resolution as general legislation. The Faculty Council endorsed the resolution at its May 6, 2013, meeting. The report was transmitted to the president with a request to forward it to UT System. On May 21, 2013, President Powers transmitted the report to UT System on behalf of the Faculty Council. Final approval resides with the Faculty Council with formal notification to the president. No further action is required.
