Graduate Catalog

Degree program changes process

What they are

Graduate degree program changes are changes to the university’s graduate degree program inventory that must be reported to or approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (CB). These are some examples:

  • Adding a degree or degree program
  • Dropping a degree or degree program
  • Changing the name of a degree or degree program

Notes:

  • Dual degree programs do not require CB approval, but the UT System usually notifies the CB of new dual programs, especially in cases where other institutions are involved.
  • Option III programs in existing areas of study do not require CB approval, but the CB should be notified. A proposal for an Option III program in a new area of study does require CB approval.
