Bea Parsons

Visiting Assistant Professor

Studio Art: Painting + Drawing

Beatrice Parsons (b.1981 in Saskatoon, Canada) is a painter currently living and working in Austin Texas.

Bea Parsons received her M.F.A. from Columbia University of New York and her B.F.A. from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. She is continuing her second year as Assistant Visiting Professor in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin. Before moving to Austin in 2013, Beatrice spent three years studying and working in New York where she was a nominated grantee for the Rema Hort Mann Foundation.

Bea’s oil paintings deal with the fleeting state of consciousness and perception. They are made during the daytime but nocturnal in spirit. Working through processes of conjuring images on canvas from an introspective state, Bea’s paintings allow room to explore inner, abstract, yet personal reaches of the imagination.

Her work has been exhibited in Canada and the US.
