Visiting Assistant Professor
Colin Frazer is a typographer and an artist. He received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2013 and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Texas—Austin, where he is also Caretaker of the Rob Roy Kelly Collection.
Colin has taught, lectured and exhibited internationally, and his book and print work resides in public collections at SFMOMA, the Walker Art Center, and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, among others. Colin co-founded the design studio The Service Bureau, and runs the type design and research organization The Center for Typographical Research. He is an instructor for the Wilderness Medicine Institute, senior faculty at the National Outdoor Leadership School, and was appointed Critic at RISD in 2013.
His research interests vary widely, but all orbit around critical graphic design. Recent work explores the relationship between landscape and language, the possibilities of print and publishing as it approaches the conditions of architecture, and design research in the context of immaterial labor.
