Jeffrey Charles Stanley is a lecturer of Transmedia in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin. He received a BFA in 2006 from Murray State University in Kentucky, followed by an MFA from the University of Texas at Austin in 2011. He has shown in various group and solo exhibitions in the US while also working on an unceasing artistic and researched based collaboration with Violaine Boutet de Monvel of Université Paris 1 simply referred to as PASSAGE. This project was presented in its latest iteration at a colloquium in Paris, France in 2009.
As an artist, Stanley works with video, postproduction, sound design, and the internet to present critical statements about culture, politics, the art world, and mass media. Based on his interests in situationist and phenomenological theories and media aesthetics, Stanley investigates the media landscape with humor and emotional vigor. With a strong sense of design, he delivers an accurate hacking of commercial media to change the viewer’s perception of cultural and social archetypes and artifacts.
