Activities during Explore UT

Join the Department of Art and Art History during Explore UT, the university's public open house, for these activities that are sure to excite and educate!

Exhibition Tours and Art-Making

11am – 5pm
Visual Arts Center

Explore works of contemporary art at the Visual Arts Center, from giant installations to travel-journal drawings. Join guided tours of the exhibitions throughout the day, or create a work of art inspired by travel from 12 to 3 pm.

Steamroller Madness!

10am – 2pm
Art Building, North Courtyard

Watch art being made by using an industrial-size steamroller as a press to imprint Texas-size art patterns onto canvas. Presenters include faculty and students from UT, Austin Community College, St. Edward's University, and Texas State University.

Fun with Maya Pottery

11am – 3pm
Main Mall (next to Garrison Hall)

Maya pottery plates were a very important part of Pre-Columbian Maya culture. Join the Mesoamerica Center to create a Maya pottery plate on paper plates and learn about the Maya gods, symbols, and hieroglyphs used in their pottery creations.
