Be the first to experience and enjoy a spectacular weekend of art, performances, discussions, tours, talks, festivities and libations as we premiere our inaugural exhibitions at the Visual Arts Center. Your participation and support will play a vital role in the growth of the VAC as a new center of our dynamic community.
Alumni, students, faculty, friends and special guests are invited to "The Fantasticks 50th Anniversary on October 15 and 16, 2010. This extraordinary two-day event will include a performance of The Fantasticks, panel discussions, exhibits, and celebratory receptions.
We are partnering with the Strategic National Arts Alumni Project (SNAAP) to learn more about the lives and careers of our alumni. SNAAP is a national survey of arts alumni from diverse institutions and fields of study. If you are a member of the class of 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009, you will receive an e-mailed invitation to complete the on-line survey this fall. Forty aspiring faculty members who are currently graduate students in the Department of Art and Art History and the Butler School of Music attended the Academic Job Search Crash Course on Friday, August 20. The crash course covered the fundamentals of applying to faculty positions with an emphasis on self-assessment and relating it to an institution's needs.
Landmarks has joined forces with Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop to offer Art Ride, a series of bike tours featuring Landmarks public art projects.
Faculty members Franchelle Dorn and Andrea Beckham of The University of Texas at Austin Department of Theatre and Dance are among the recipients from throughout The University of Texas System who have been presented the Board of Regents' Outstanding Teaching Awards.
The Texas Exes' travel program, the Flying Longhorns, has announced its 2011 trip schedule. Founded in 1961 on the premise that education doesn't end when you leave the University and that travel is a lifelong learning odyssey, the Flying Longhorns offers more than 40 trips each year for a variety of budgets and interests. Next year is the program's 50th anniversary.
The 2010 football season will kick off in Houston as Rice University hosts the Longhorns at Reliant Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. Attend the Texas Exes tailgate or play in the Texas Exes Golf Tournament, but either way, come early, be loud, stay late, and wear orange!
