College Development Update Winter 2014

Thanks for joining us for the Doty Award celebration and the Winter Advisory Council meeting! So wonderful to see so many of you back on campus. As you know, every third year, we are hosting two large group meetings in Austin, in addition to our spring regional meetings, which will be held around the state in March and April. The dean and I are looking forward to meeting with you in your communities soon for these up-close-and-personal gatherings that offer the chance for more personal conversations and discussions.

Not all cities and dates are scheduled yet, but here are the meetings confirmed so far:

San Antonio on March 26 (luncheon)

Corpus Christi on April 8 (evening reception)

Fort Worth on April 16 (luncheon)

Dallas on April 16 (evening reception)

Later this month, we hope you will join us in Austin for the exciting Menuhin International Violin Competition (February 21-March 2). This is the first time this prestigious international event is being held in North America, and it will put a bright spotlight on Austin, the university, and the Butler School of Music. The Cleveland Orchestra will be in residence for the final weekend of the competition, and tickets are selling quickly. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit www.violinatx.org.

And mark your calendars for these important 75th Anniversary events on campus:

April 5 - Department of Art and Art History celebration

April 11 - Department of Theatre and Dance dinner and performance of In the Heights

Invitations for these two 75th anniversary events will be mailed soon and also posted on the departments' websites.

Please let me know if you would like to receive additional information about our various fundraising initiatives and special projects this spring. As usual, we have a variety of entertaining, exciting, and intellectually engaging events happening throughout the college. Don't hesitate to join us. You are always welcome!

Thank you for all that you do for our college as an Advisory Council member!

With appreciation,

Sondra Lomax
