CoFA Alumni and Friends Provide Insight on Going from Grades to Green

On May 9, 2011 students began the transition from grades to green  with the help of several local Austin professionals and CoFA alumni.  Fine Arts Career Services offers the Grades to Green Job Search Crash Course biannually to prepare students to search for professional opportunities in and out of the arts. This semester's sessions included discussions on marketing a fine arts major to potential employers, networking, etiquette, resume reviews  and an alumni panel.  Guest resume reviewers Maggie Bang (B.B.A., Marketing, 2009) of Texas Performing Arts, Daphne Holland of the Dougherty Arts School, Jennifer Chenoweth (M.F.A., Studio Art, 2009) of Fisterra Studio, and Shannon Stagner of The Department of Art and Art History provided students with 10 minutes of invidual, real world feedback on their resumes.  Our guest reviewers brought years of combined experience to make sure students showcase their qualifications effectively through their resume.  Grades to Green culminated in an alumni panel.  Panelists Sidney Pan (Theatre & Dance, 2006), David Tenorio (B.F.A. Studio Art, 2009) and Wade Yost (B.M., Music Performance, 2006) shared candid insights about their various paths in the arts.   FACS would like to thank these alumni and friends who made the Grades to Green Workshop a success!
