Event Details
Event Title:Visual Arts Center presents Yet, By No Means: A Night of Projections (More Information)
Event Description:

Center Space Project presents a night of projections featuring found slides and Super 8 films from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s. Collected from locations around the globe by Sandy Carson, these slides will appear with selections from abandoned home movies reminiscent of the American Dream. The two immigrant artists will contest the ideology of American-ness through their juxtaposed projections, which question and negotiate the idea of home and belonging.

Sandy Carson (born 1972) is a photographer raised in Scotland and now based in Austin. He immigrated to the United States after he received his HND in Communications from The University Of The West Of Scotland.

Emma Whelan (born 1988) was raised in Tullinge, Sweden of Irish and Swedish parents, spending her upbringing transitionally between Sweden, Ireland, and the US. Currently based in Austin, she graduated with a BFA in Design, as well as a BA in Studio Art from The University of Texas in May 2012.
