Visual Arts Center presents Sound + Vision with Lesley Flanigan
|Event Title:||Visual Arts Center presents Sound + Vision with Lesley Flanigan (More Information)|
|Event Description:|| |
In collaboration with Church of the Friendly Ghost, an Austin collective dedicated to cultivating new media art and sound, the VAC presents an evening of music with New York-based artist Lesley Flanigan. Drawing from her own training as an artist and musician, Flanigan builds electroacoustic instruments that bridge the disciplines of object making, musical composition, and performance. Flanigan refers to the music she makes as sculptural music, constructed through an additive process and built from her compositions of rudimentary palettes of controlled feedback, recorded artifacts, loops, live musicians, and her own lilting soprano voice. Flanigan’s work is as much about music as it is about how the body experiences sound, how we hear, and the physical space that sound occupies.
Lesley Flanigan studied sculpture at the Ringling College of Art and Design and in 2008 received a MA in Art Technology from the Interactive Telecommunications Program at New York University.
