he John L. Warfield Center’s Performing Blackness Series presents TAR by Charles O. Anderson and dance theatre X. TAR rewrites the Uncle Remus tales – retelling, redefining, and remythologizing, improvising, imagining, conjuring the African American trickster tradition embodied by the tar baby metaphor.
The performance features work by Grammy nominated artist Ursula Rucker.
A pre-performance event begins at 7:00 p.m. in the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre. A post-performance moderation will be facilitated by Brenda Dixon-Gottschild.
TAR is presented in conjunction with the Performance as Public Practice and Performing Blackness Series Annual Symposium.
