Free performances of Dance Repertory Theatre and robotic lighting; workshop for new theatre

The Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to participate in The University of Texas at Austin's annual open house extravaganza, Explore UT, on March 5. The campus-wide event offers more than 400 programs showcasing all that the university has to offer Texans of all ages. All activities, including lectures, performances and demonstrations are free to participants and no registration is required. Department of Theatre and Dance events include:

The Design of Dance: Dance Repertory Theatre Interactive Exhibit

Lobby display of sculptural visuals, costume renderings, and artifacts created for Physical Language

Dance Repertory Theatre: Physical Language, Act I

Full performance of Act I, new work by Master in Fine Arts' dance candidate, Alvin Rangel, a world premiere by guest artist/choreographer, Charlotte Boye-Christensen and a William Forsythe classic reset just for Dance Repertory Theatre

Dance Repertory Theatre: Physical Language, Act II

3:00 – 3:40 PM, B. Iden Payne Theatre; Full performance of Act II, collaborative choreography with visual artist John Christensen and design technology students from the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Robotic Lighting Extravaganza

Watch light become object as it dances through space to different kinds of music. Students will demonstrate how this new visual language can fill you with different emotions.


The University Co-op Presents the Cohen New Works Festival 2011 Workshop
