Freshman Admissions

If you are, or soon will be, a high school graduate with no previous college attendance, apply as an entering freshman. You can apply as an entering freshman if you have taken college courses while still in high school, but if you graduated from high school and took any college coursework afterward, you should apply as a transfer student

To be considered for freshman admission, you must submit an application to the Office of Admissions by December 1.

General undergraduate admission to the university is based on your high school academic record, SAT or ACT scores, extracurricular work, volunteer work and essays.

Once your application is received and processed by the Office of Admissions, your application is reviewed by the Department of Theatre and Dance for acceptance as a Theatre and Dance major.

Begin your application today!

You will be notified of your admission status by the UT Office of Admissions.

Audition and Interview Requirements for Admission

The department strongly recommends an audition for students applying for placement into the Actor Training Program.

Students interested in other areas of study in the B.A. in Theatre and Dance are encouraged to schedule an interview with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

An interview is required of all prospective B.F.A. in Theatre Studies students.

Students applying to the B.F.A. in Dance are required to audition and submit letters of recommendation. Please download a B.F.A. Dance e-packet (PDF), which contains information about the B.F.A. Dance program and auditions.
