Scholarships and Financial Aid
The Princeton Review ranked The University of Texas at Austin one of the nation's Best Value Colleges for 2012.
What do we mean by best value? Think bang for your buck. With over 50 faculty and staff, six to eight season productions each year, 20 student-driven productions, impressive facilities, and over 150 courses each semester, the Department of Theatre and Dance offers Texas-sized resources for a tight-knit community of artists. And, we do all of this at a third or half the cost of tuition as our peer institutions.
There are many options available to students to finance their education at The University of Texas at Austin. The university, Department of Theatre and Dance and Texas Exes provide scholarships to freshmen and external transfer students. Financial aid in the form of grants and subsidized student loans is also available.
General University Scholarships
Freshmen applicants interested in Texas Exes and General University Scholarships must complete an ApplyTexas Application, including the related scholarship and essay sections of the application. Applicants should carefully review the ApplyTexas Application Scholarship Section for information on specific awards. Application materials must be submitted by December 1.
Some scholarship funds are available for transfer students, but the amounts are limited. The UT Austin Continuing & Transfer Scholarship Application is available in November of each year and used to award students for the following academic year.
More information on Texas Exes and General University Scholarships for freshmen, external transfer, graduate, and international students is available at texasscholarships.org.
Department of Theatre and Dance Scholarships
Incoming and current students are nominated for departmental scholarships through a Theatre and Dance faculty scholarship committee. There is no application process for our scholarships.
To be considered for departmental awards, applicants should complete the Department of Theatre and Dance Application, along with all subsequent steps, such as an audition or interview, if required for their intended degree program.
To be considered for financial aid, freshmen applicants must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1, and no later than March 15, of the year in which they apply for admission.
External transfer applicants should visit Transfer Financial Aid for more information how to apply for aid.
