- While in high school in Dallas plays on the tennis team, sings in the choir, tutors elementary students, and serves as a junior deacon at her church.
- Graduates from Dallas’ Lake Highlands High School in 2004.
- Since 2004 participates every summer in a theology program at Oxford University where she explores the relationship between science and religion.
- Enrolls at UT in fall 2004.
- From 2004 to 2006 works on a research project about black holes at the UT Center for Relativity.
- Receives Department of Astronomy’s Board of Visitors scholarship for overall performance for 2006-2007.
- Co-authors paper about the evolution of galaxies that wins honors at the 2007 Undergraduate Research Forum in the College of Natural Sciences.
- Becomes one of 32 U.S. students to be named Rhodes Scholars for 2008; Rhodes Trust cites her not only for her accomplishments in the field of astronomy and physic but also for her ability as a rock, jazz, and classical music composer, performer, and instrumentalist.
