Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Moroney Norsworthy

Philanthropist
Norsworthy, a Dallas native who died in 2001 at the age of eighty-three, was the granddaughter of Morning News founder George Bannerman Dealey. Her brother, James M. Moroney Jr., a retired publisher of the paper, presented the gift to the zoo as the trustee of her charitable trust. The Dallas Zoo has received $2 million ? the largest single donation in its history ? from the charitable trust of the late Betty Moroney Norsworthy and will use the funds to build an otter exhibit
