2014 Annual Enrollment

The Annual Enrollment period is July 15-31. This is your opportunity to make insurance and UT Flex elections for the upcoming plan year, beginning September 1. Elections must be made by July 31. Visit the Annual Enrollment website for additional details.

The President’s Office, Staff Council and Human Resources are pleased to announce the launch of Lynda.com for this campus. Through high-quality videos, this online course library provides instruction on the use of software and training on a wide range of tools and disciplines.

President's Staff Awards Ceremony

Please join us May 7, 2014 to celebrate outstanding and dedicated staff members at The President's Staff Awards ceremony. Thirty Outstanding Staff Award recipients, two Outstanding Supervisor Award recipients, the Student Employee of the Year, and Staff Service Award recipients with 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 years of service will be honored at the ceremony. Transitioning to VoIP

Health Insurance Marketplace Notice

The Health Insurance Marketplace launches October 1. The Marketplace (also known as the "exchange") is a key provision of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and is a new option to shop for private insurance. The ACA requires all employees be informed about the Marketplace by October 1. The UT System Office of Employee Benefits (OEB) has sent this notice to anyone with a current assignment and unassigned employees who received payroll compensation anytime during 2013. Newly enhanced benefit!

HealthPoint Work/Life Services is pleased to partner with LifeCare to provide benefits eligible employees and their family members access to an array of work-life resource and referral services on issues important to you. LifeCare provides child and elder care provider referrals and legal and financial services plus an interactive web site with quick tips, in-depth articles, on-demand webinars and much more. In addition, LifeCare has an expansive employee discount center called LifeMart that is replacing our existing employee discount program. Living with Loss: A Grief Group

Every Wednesday starting October 2-November 20 from 3:30-4:30 Grief education and support for staff or faculty who are grieving the death of a loved one. The bereavement group is an eight-week psychoeducational gathering where a different grief-related topic is presented each week. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and to give and receive support in a safe environment. Call 512-471-3366 for more information.

Mood, Food, and Groove Group

Every Monday starting September 30-November 18 from 3:30-4:30 Come join us for an eight-week series to explore the mind body connection and learn methods to improve and manage your mood. 2013 Health and Lifestyle Expo

UT Austin faculty and staff are invited to attend the 2013 Health and Lifestyle Expo, with special guest Tracey Yukich, runner-up from The Biggest Loser Season 8. Enjoy healthy food samples, chair massage, giveaways and drawings. In addition to over 100 internal and external health and lifestyle vendors, the expo provides opportunities to learn more about the UT Benefits program, including Annual Enrollment, which occurs July 15-31. Austin a top US city, UT Austin a top organization for employee satisfaction

As reported on Yahoo! Finance, Glassdoor, a jobs and career community, recently released its employee satisfaction report, ranking Austin among the 10 U.S. cities with the happiest workers. The University of Texas at Austin is among the organizations highest-rated by employees.

The report takes into account overall employment satisfaction, compensation and benefits satisfaction, senior management satisfaction, expectations for company outlook and the number of employers hiring in the 50 largest U.S. metros.

New employees may now make insurance elections online!

Human Resource Services (HRS) is directing all new benefits eligible employees to the My UT Benefits enrollment system. Many employees will experience an entirely paperless enrollment, while employees adding dependents to insurance have the ability to upload required paper documentation into the system. New employees with questions regarding the enrollment process should refer to the New Employee Benefits Enrollment Checklist.

2013-2014 Holiday Schedule

The 2013-2014 Holiday Schedule is now available. A floating holiday is included as one of the 15 holidays the university may observe next year. Review the schedule to confirm the holidays and to plan for skeleton crew days during Winter Break.

Veteran-specific Programs at UT

Veterans are a valued part of the campus community, so UT Austin provides numerous veteran-specific programs here on campus. Veteran faculty, staff and students are invited to learn more about these services on the veteran services page.

Families of veterans will also find valuable resources, including the transition to civilian life, housing, and financial help.

2012-2013 Student Employee of the Year

The UT Austin Student Employee of the Year Award is given annually to an outstanding student employee who has made a unique contribution to the university and has demonstrated exceptional reliability, quality of work, initiative, and professionalism.

We are pleased to recognize Kevin J. Luecke, Undergraduate Research Assistant in the College of Natural Sciences, Department of Astronomy - McDonald Observatory, as The University of Texas at Austin's 2012-2013 Student Employee of the Year.

University Health Services (UHS) Flu Shot Clinic

Due to the widespread flu outbreak in Texas, University Health Services (UHS) has planned an additional one-day flu clinic for students, staff and faculty January 23rd from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The UHS clinic will offer the flu vaccine while supplies last to staff and faculty at no cost if you are a UT Select insurance participant. If you do not have UT Select insurance or are uninsured, the cost will be $10. Employees must bring their UT Select card to the clinic to receive the vaccine at no cost.

Not on campus for the UHS flu clinic? UT Select insurance participants may obtain a flu vaccine at most major retail pharmacy chains such as CVS or Walgreen's provided the pharmacy accepts Medco/Express Scripts prescription drug coverage. Eligible employees should show their Medco/Express Scripts prescription drug insurance card (not their BCBS-TX card) to obtain a flu vaccine for themselves and any covered family members for zero deductible and no co-pay. Eligible employees may also receive the flu vaccine from their primary care physician using their BCBS-TX medical insurance card.

Wellness Screenings for Faculty and Staff

UT Austin's HealthPoint Wellness Program and the UT Select medical plan have partnered with Wellness Inc. to offer an employee wellness screening program. The wellness screening is completely voluntary and designed to help you assess your heart health and risk for diabetes through 6 key blood tests, a blood pressure measurement, and other optional services. Taking Work Time to Vote

The University of Texas at Austin encourages all faculty and staff to vote in the upcoming election. Many counties offer convenient opportunities for early voting. Travis County voters can vote early at the Flawn Academic Center (FAC) on the university's main campus. We have compiled a list of locations, dates and times [PDF] for early voting for Travis and surrounding counties.

Early voting begins Monday, October 22 and will continue through November 2. Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.

UT System-Wide Insurance Advisory Committee (SWIAC)

Brandy Whitten has been re-elected as the representative for benefits eligible employees on the UT System-Wide Insurance Advisory Committee (SWIAC). Brandy is a Senior Administrative Associate in University Health Services and is serving a two-year term that began September 1. SWIAC members work with the UT System Office of Employee Benefits as advisors in the development, implementation, coordination and administration of the group insurance program. SWIAC provides a channel for open communication of ideas and suggestions regarding group insurance benefits. The group insurance program includes medical, dental, vision, group term life and accidental death and dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability, and long-term care insurance plans, flexible spending accounts and a wellness program.

Student Employee Excellence Development Program

Human Resource Services, in collaboration with partners across campus, has launched an exciting new program for student employees. The Student Employee Excellence Development (S.E.E.D.) Program offers students who work for the university an opportunity to earn a Student Employee Excellence Certification by attending a series of free, one-hour workshops designed to help them succeed in their student jobs and future careers.

In addition to providing valuable training for student employees campus-wide, the S.E.E.D. Program can serve as a complement to existing departmental training or certification programs.

Tobacco Free Campus Policy

The University of Texas at Austin is currently working to adapt its current "No Smoking" policy to align with new grant requirements [pdf] from The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Research entities, of which the university is one, must certify themselves as tobacco-free to continue receiving funds from CPRIT. In the weeks ahead, discussions will be held that include the leadership of groups representing UT faculty, staff, and students to phase in a tobacco-free plan that brings the university into compliance with CPRIT and preserve tens of millions of dollars in funding for cancer research. The campus community will be notified when a final decision has been reached

Tobacco is the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. As always, HRS is committed to supporting our faculty and staff who wish to quit using tobacco products. We are working towards offering cessation classes on campus and will update our community as these are put in place.

Healthpoint Occupational Health Program Closing For Two Days.

UPDATE The HealthPoint Occupational Health Program clinic will be closed on Thursday, November 11th, for installation of cubicle work areas and an exam room to enhance clinic privacy. The clinic will re-open for minor injury services on Friday (no routine appointments) and re-open for full service on Monday, Nov. 15th. During hours of closure, routine paperwork such as OHP-Labs questionnaires may be submitted to HealthPoint OHP by confidentially faxing to 512-471-2666. For work injury treatment during hours of closure, follow the Advanced Care and After Hours guidelines below.

Flu Prevention Information

CDC Flu Shot Clinic Schedule Flu Prevention Information The best way to prevent the flu is through vaccination. University Health Services (UHS) has extended their flu vaccine program and are offering staff & faculty a flu shot for only $10, cash or check only. Call (512) 475-8301 to schedule an appointment. Family members with UT Select coverage needing the flu vaccine have the option of receiving a flu shot through a Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) provider. A regular co-payment will be applied. Flu shots are also available from other sources, such as retail pharmacies that set their own cost. Note: UT Flex medical account participants may submit their flu shot receipts to PayFlex as an eligible expense, regardless of where their flu shot is administered. GET FIT - Breakfast and Lose!

Human Resource Services is proud to host the GET FIT Breakfast and Lose program. This personalized program begins June 8, at 8 a.m. in the North Office Building (NOA), room 4.106A and features a healthy breakfast and a weight loss seminar by Brittany Crim every Tuesday for 12 weeks. The program is offered to all current UT Austin faculty and staff. Cost for participation is only $99. You can sign up by calling the GET FIT office at 512-471-0081, or you can e-mail them. HealthPoint: Occupational Health Program

Occupational Health Program-Laboratory Animal and Biomedical Services are now available at the North Office Building (NOA) through HealthPoint, Human Resource Services' new initiative for employee health and well-being at work and in life. Insurance Rates for the New Plan Year

The insurance and UT Flex selections you made during Annual Enrollment in July will become effective September 1, 2009. However, changes in your deductions for those selections will not show on your earnings statement until October 1, 2009. At that time, even if you did not make new selections during Annual Enrollment, you may see new deduction amounts due to increases and decreases in plan rates. You will also see that the premium sharing amount that offsets the cost of your health insurance will change.

All of the insurance rates for the new plan year and premium sharing amounts for health insurance are available online.

If you were required to submit Evidence of Insurability for yourself or any of your family members for health or term life insurance coverage, those changes may appear on an earnings statement after October 1, dependent on the approval of the insurance company.

New UT Select Health Plan Identification Cards

Separate ID cards for UT SELECT Medical and Prescription Drug Plans will be issued in August for the 2009-2010 insurance plan year.

Annual Enrollment

Annual Enrollment ended on July 31, 2009. Elections are no longer available. You can't change your insurance coverage during the year except in the case of a qualified status change. Read more about Change In Insurance Status.
