March merit increases should be considered only for those classified employees who were not eligible for a merit increase on September 1, 2006 and who have been employed at the University for at least six consecutive months and based on superior performance by the employee in one or more of the following areas:
- Quantity and quality of work performance compared to standards for the job classification and the specific position;
- Attitude toward the job, including initiative and dependability;
- Cooperation with peers, subordinates and supervisors;
- or Punctuality and attendance.
- Requests for March merit increases must be justified, routed through appropriate budget channels, and approved by the appropriate vice president or dean by March 31.
- Questions concerning this salary increase policy should be directed to your HRS Staffing and Career Management representative (http://www.utexas.edu/hr/lookup/index.php) or by contacting Staffing and Career Management at 475-8027 or hrs-staffing@austin.utexas.edu.

- Meet other constituents just like you who share a common goal to resolve our issues to benefit everyone involved.
Mysteries of the UTSC
- What is the Staff Council ?
- The goal of Staff Council is to promote a positive and collaborative work environment.
The purposes are many:
- To serve as a representative advisory council.
- To provide a vehicle for communication of
interests, concerns, and issues that affect staff.
- To present recommendations to university leadership.
- To provide nominations to university standing committees.
- What district am I in, and who is my representative?
- You can find these answers and more online at:
http://www.utexas.edu/staff/council
Myths
- UT Austin will never change for Staff.
- Over 78 UTSC issues have been proposed to date.
- 32 of those have been approved and being implemented as of 2001.
- UT Austin is a Bureaucracy with too much red tape.
- UTSC has over 70 staff elected Representatives ready to address your concerns and issues.
- UT Austin committees and meetings are a waste of time.
- The minimal hours spent each month attending the UTSC meetings far outweighed the negative cost of participating.
- You can make a difference, you just need to get involved!
and More...
- Accomplishments of UTSC to date.
- Created Employee Emergency Fund…
- Extended Education Benefits to off campus remote locations such as McDonald Observatory and Port Aransas,
- Altered Funeral Leave Policy to include coworkers.
- Improved relations with Faculty Council, Parking & Transportation, and UTPD.
Election time is right around the corner...
- Are you willing to serve?
- Do you know someone who might be interested?
- Please contact your district representative to find out more details.
