Important Information Concerning Retiree Insurance Bills and Coverage

Billing Schedule

Bills are issued quarterly by fiscal year (September-August). The table below outlines the billing schedule. Please note the payment due date is now the 10th of the month.

** Please note: If you are paying on a monthly basis, both the first and second installments are due on 10/10/2007.

Cancellation Policy

It is important to pay your insurance premiums on time to avoid cancellation. Payments can be made in full or in monthly installments. If the due date falls on a weekend or holiday, payment is due by the following business day.

Accounts that are two months behind on the last day of a month will be cancelled to basic coverage*. Those who do not receive premium sharing will have all coverage cancelled.

Payment Options

  1. AutoPay – Automatic Payment via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from your bank account ***New effective 9/1/07***

    Automatic payments, called AutoPay, can either be set up online or by submitting a paper enrollment form. To complete your enrollment online, a High Assurance EID is required to access the AutoPay web site at https://utdirect.utexas.edu/acct/rec/autopay/. You can update or cancel your AutoPay enrollment online at any time. The UT EID web site at https://idmanager.its.utexas.edu/eid_self_help/contact has information about upgrading your UT EID.

    In lieu of online enrollment, you can complete and submit an Automatic Payment Request Authorization Form available online at http://www.utexas.edu/payroll/forms.html. PLEASE DO NOT SEND THE FORM WITH YOUR PAYMENT. It should be mailed to the address on the back of the form. You can update or cancel your AutoPay at any time by submitting a new form. If you have questions about AutoPay or need to request a paper enrollment form, contact Payroll Services at (512) 471-5271.

  2. Online (Requires High Assurance EID)

    What I Owe allows you to make one time payments over the web by credit card, electronic funds transfer (EFT), or electronic check (ECheck). To make an online payment on What I Owe, go to https://utdirect.utexas.edu/acct/rec/wio/wio_home.WBX and follow the instructions.

  3. By Mail

    Mail payments to:

    1. For payments by check or money order:
      • Make payments payable to: The University of Texas at Austin
      • Include your UT EID (located on your bill next to your name), and
      • Write "Retiree Insurance" on the check.
         
    2. For MasterCard and Discover credit card payments:
      • Provide your credit card number & expiration date
      • Specify the amount of your payment, and
      • Sign the payment coupon.
    3. For proper credit on monthly installment payments, please include a message with your payment indicating you are paying for UT Austin - Retiree Insurance and provide:
      • Your name
      • UT EID (located on your bill next to your name)
      • Check, OR
      • Credit card number, expiration date and amount to be charged.

Address Changes

Address changes can be made either online or by contacting the Human Resource Service Center at (512) 471-4772 or (800) 687-4178.

To change your address online, go to https://utdirect.utexas.edu/pnbiog/. Choose Addresses & Email from the left navigation bar.

Long Term Care for Retirees

Long Term Care insurance is not administered by the University of Texas and is not included in your Retiree Insurance bill. Please contact Continental Casualty Company at 888-825-0353 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. (EST) to notify them that you have retired and need to be billed at your home address.
