Staff Emergency Fund - UT Staff Helping UT Staff

Purpose and Overview

The University of Texas at Austin’s Staff Emergency Fund (SEF) is provided through the generous and caring support of University employees and the efforts of UT Cares and Staff Council. A contribution of just $12 per year from each UT Austin faculty and staff member would provide adequate financial resources to assist over 200 staff members per year. This fund is for limited financial assistance when staff members are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of a temporary hardship related to an emergency situation. Funds granted to staff are counted as income and are subject to federal taxes.

Contributing to the fund is your opportunity to help other UT staff members who may be facing a temporary hardship get back on track. A temporary hardship is a defined, time-limited, specific event such as the death of a family member, a fire, sudden serious illness, critical injury, etc.

How to Contribute

Contributions to the Staff Emergency Fund are made through the Hearts of Texas Campaign by designating that your contribution go to The University of Texas Austin Employee Emergency Fund (Charity Code: 228070; page 31 in the Hearts of Texas booklet).
