Staff Emergency Fund - UT Staff Helping UT Staff

How To Apply

  1. Obtain an application form from The University of Texas at Austin Employee Assistance Program by calling 512-471-3366.
     
  2. Complete the form, attach the requested documentation, and return all materials to the Employee Assistance Program by U.S. mail, Campus Mail, or fax.

  3. Applicants may be asked to meet with an EAP counselor to review the application and to discuss other resources or services.
     
  4. Applicants will be notified by Human Resources Administration by letter of approval or denial within 10 business days from receipt of the application. Approval or denial information will not be given by phone.
     
  5. If an application is approved, the check will be sent to the address specified by the applicant.
     
  6. Disclosure of your Social Security number ("SSN") may be requested from you in order for The University of Texas at Austin to process payment of a Staff Emergency Fund grant. Internal Revenue Service regulations require that the grant be reported as income. Failure to provide your SSN may result in inability to disburse the funds. Further disclosure of your SSN is governed by the Public Information Act (Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code) and other applicable law

Financial assistance may be awarded in any amount up to a maximum of $1,000. 

Given the limited amount of funds, all requests cannot be approved even though there may be a clear need for assistance.  Note that this fund may be insufficient in the case of widespread disasters, community crises, or war/terrorism.
