The following is a short list of local resources available to University of Texas at Austin staff facing financial difficulties. All referral agencies have their own requirements and application forms.  Inclusion on this list does not signify endorsement by UT Austin Work/Life Services, nor does omission indicate disapproval.

2-1-1 Texas is a public/private partnership of the United Ways in Central Texas and the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.  It provides information about services in our community offered by nonprofit organizations and government agencies.  This includes Food Bank information. 

  • Serves Bastrop, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Fayette, Hays, Lee, Llano, Travis, and Williamson counties
  • Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Multilingual, free and confidential

CCCS is a nonprofit agency whose goal is to help people prevent and solve their personal money management difficulties through debt repayment programs and confidential one-on-one counseling and educational programs.

Central Texas Debtors Anonymous

An organization patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous to provide support and help to those who have problems with overspending, compulsive debting and chronic underearning.  Call for meeting times and locations.

Austin Lawyer Referral Service

The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) is a non-profit, public service of the Travis County Bar Association. It provides the names of attorneys who practice in the area of law in which the problem exists. There is a $20 fee for one 30-minute consultation.  All attorneys are screened and carry malpractice insurance.  Bilingual attorneys are available on request.  There is no further obligation after the consultation, unless the decision is made to hire the attorney. The initial consultation will not include legal advice.

Austin Tenants' Council

Austin Tenants' Council  programs, which serve residents of the city of Austin and some of its surrounding communities, addresses housing discrimination, landlord/tenant education and information, and housing repair and rehabilitation.

Family Eldercare, Inc.
