Reports for Current/Prospective UT Austin Employees - September 2000

The University of Texas at Austin makes a number of reports available to the campus community and to prospective students and employees. Outlined below is information about several of these reports and where you may find them. The University will provide printed copies of individual reports (not catalogs) upon request.

1. "What You Need to Know — Campus Security and Crime Awareness" — this report contains information such as: procedures and facilities for reporting criminal activity or other emergencies; reporting criminal activity; safety of and access to campus facilities; current campus law enforcement policies, including enforcement authority of campus police; working relationships with state and local law enforcement agencies; programs regarding campus security procedures and practices that encourage responsibility for personal and community safety; crime prevention; monitoring and recording by local police the criminal activity at specified off-campus locations; policies regarding the possession, use, and sale of illegal drugs and the enforcement of federal and state drug laws and a description of drug or alcohol-abuse education programs; campus sexual assault programs and procedures to follow when a sex offense occurs, and sanctions imposed for offenses; and campus crime statistics. 2. The University’s policies concerning privacy and release of education records explains the rights of students with respect to education records maintained by the University and outlines the University's procedures for complying with the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The policy is published in the General Information Catalog. Copies of the Act, the Federal Regulations adopted pursuant to it, and this notice are available for persons to examine in the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Main 121, Austin, TX 78712. 3. The University provides information for students and employees regarding illicit drugs and alcohol abuse, including standards of conduct, health risks, state and federal penalties, and available drug or alcohol counseling or rehabilitation services. Printed copies of this information may be obtained from the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, P.O. Box 7699, Austin, TX 78713. Drug or alcohol counseling is available to employees through the Employee Assistance Program. Information can be accessed on the Internet at http://www.utexas.edu/hr/eap/.
