What is RecSports?

  • 10 recreation facilities
  • Open over 120 hours per week
  • Cardio equipment and weights
  • Faculty/staff weight room and locker rooms
  • Indoor track at Gregory
  • Outdoor track at Clark Field
  • Indoor and outdoor pools (Gregory Gym Aquatic Complex)
  • Meeting space
  • Basketball/volleyball courts
  • Handball, racquetball and squash courts
  • Sports Cafe

Who can join RecSports?

  • Faculty and staff (F/S)
  • F/S spouses/partners or adult exercise partner
  • Dependent children up to age 22

What are the fees and how are they determined?

RecSports is funded primarily through part of the tuition students pay each semester.  We have a great relationship with students and our philosophy has always been to have faculty and staff pay the same amount, for recreation facility access, as students for the yearlong membership.  The fee is ultimately based on the amount a student enrolled for fall, spring and summer would pay to RecSports as part of tuition.

Can I payroll deduct my membership and those that I sponsor?

  • Yes, faculty and staff are eligible to payroll deduct.
  • TeXercise, Group Cycling and Aqua Class Passes are also eligible to payroll deduct.
  • 9-month employees are on a slightly different and shorter schedule but may payroll deduct as well.

 

What programs are available to RecSports members?

  • Group Exercise Classes and Group Cycling—yoga, Pilates, aqua fitness, strength and conditioning and cardio
  • Fitness Classes and Series—Pilates Reformer, Beginner Yoga or Pilates and Dance
  • Weight Room Orientations
  • Personal Training  Instruction & Personal Training Studio in the RSC
  • Fitness Assessment Center in Gregory Gym
  • Instructional Classes—Coached Swim, CPR/AED, First Aid, Learn to Swim, PSI
  • Massage Center with certified massage therapists in Gregory Gym

Departmental Compliance Report

  • Designated HR representatives are authorized to run report for their unit codes.  (Other employees must get authorized by Kay Novello.)
  • Go to  https://utdirect.utexas.edu/cts/ and select “Department Compliance Status” to run report.
  • Report will show the employees in your unit code who need training and which modules they need (along with their UT EID and e-mail address).

State Law Compliance Requirements

  • Two modules are mandated by state law to be taken during the first 30 days of employment and every two years thereafter. They are:
    • CW 121 Sexual Harassment
    • CW 123 Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
  • Our percentages have to improve this year.
  • To improve our percentages we are going to send:
    • Department Heads and HR Reps—quarterly compliance reports of employees’ non-compliance
    • Employees—weekly e-mails until they have finished the modules

New Texas Driver License for Non-Citizens

  • Driver licenses or identification cards to non-U.S. citizens will be issued only with proof of lawful status in the United States
  • The card will have “Temporary Visitor” designation and status date on the face of the card
  • For I-9 Forms, treat these the same as regular driver licenses

 

New Work Schedule Options

  • Wednesday noon to Wednesday noon, off Saturday/Sunday and every other Wednesday
  • Thursday noon to Thursday noon, off Saturday/Sunday and every other Thursday
  • Available in appointments and timesheets since November 6

 

Spring Reappointments

  • 12/1/08 – reappointment (AR*) commands available in DEFINE
  • 1/12/09 – reappointment (AR*) documents to HR for next payroll
  • 1/13/09 – appointments to HR for semi-monthly payroll on Jan 22
  • 1/15/09 – appointments to HR for monthly payroll on Feb 2
  • 1/31/09 – reappointment (AR*) commands close

I-9 Checklist Draft

 

New Employees and EID Upgrade Requests

  • A new employee does not need an appointment to start the EID upgrade process, but does need to have an Employee Record in DEFINE
  • Set up the New Employee Record in DEFINE using OVE or ANN command
  • “Current Employee” affiliation will be added to the EID system overnight
  • Instructions on creating a New Employee Record in DEFINE available online
