This program has been re-designed and shortened to three days, based on feedback from over 500 participants in positions throughout the campus. It provides a comprehensive overview of employment law, HR policies and procedures, and best practices in management. Participants learn how to apply this knowledge and improve their competencies through interactive exercises, fun group activities, UT-focused case studies, and self-assessments. Opportunities are created to practice personal and interpersonal skills such as communications, team-building, coaching and leadership. Additionally, many participants rate the program highly for the opportunity to meet HR staff and network with managers from other areas. The program is offered in several formats to accommodate participants' work schedules.

Managing@UT Eligibility Guidelines

Managing@UT has been designed primarily for managers responsible for activities such as hiring staff, giving performance evaluations, and approving time sheets. Please determine your eligibility by considering the follow questions:

  • Do I hire staff?
  • Do I give performance evaluations to staff?
  • Am I responsible for approving leave and timesheets for staff?

If you answer "no" to any of these questions, call Tom Rapp, the Program Manager for Managing@UT at 475-8060, to discuss your eligibility. He may call you or your supervisor to discuss your eligibility status.

We welcome your comments and suggestions on this site and hope that it helps you as a manager. For more information, contact Tom Rapp at 475-8060.
