Training Services... what we do and who we are
 

What we do

We're Training Services, a group within Human Resource Services (HRS) that helps employees at The University of Texas at Austin learn in a variety of ways. We offer free training classes each semester through the HRS Training Calendar and customized training designed, developed and delivered for specific departments or organizations. Explore our Web site to find out more about our services; then give us a call or send us e-mail. We'll work together to figure out a way for you or your group to increase your knowledge and skills and acquire new competencies.

The mission of Training Services is supporting employees of the University of Texas at Austin in learning as individuals and in groups. We work to provide UT staff with easy access to quality learning opportunities. Our vision is becoming a world-class training function that assists individuals, groups and the organization learn, develop and become more effective in living their values and accomplishing their dreams. We also strive to be a model of our values -- a caring, creative, competent and collaborative team working to influence society in positive ways.
 

Who we are

Jeannie Weaver is the Assistant HR Director for Training Services at the University of Texas at Austin. She has over 20 years experience consulting with organizations on issues related to management, leadership, change management, professional development, process facilitation and strategic planning.  Her experience includes both public and private sector organizations.

Jeannie's organization development work includes:

  • Designed, developed and implemented five community-based Future Search Conferences across Texas to identify future trends and strategies for public health. Created training module for over two hundred and fifty conference facilitators.
  • Co-led Blue Ribbon Task Force on Organizational Communication. Identified ten categories of stakeholders, collected data from both internal and external customers for each category and made recommendations to the Commissioner of Health.  Resulted in Customer Satisfaction process being identified by Texas State Auditor as "Best Practice."
  • Provided high-level strategic process facilitation as needed, including statewide workgroups on Bioterrorism, public health reformation, Tobacco Settlement Taskforce, legislatively mandated rule changes, binational conferences with Mexico on Public Health Preparedness, and countless teams and programs developing strategic plans.

A Native Texan, Jeannie received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Angelo State University, and a Masters of Education and Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Her graduate school work focused on Human Resource and Organization Development.
 

Elida Lee is a Training Coordinator for Training Services. She is the program manager for classes offered by numerous departments each semester through the HRS Training Calendar. Additionally, Elida consults with managers and departments on strategic planning, goal setting, customer service, and organizational development and effectiveness. She is certified to teach FranklinCovey's: The 4 Roles of Leadership, The 4 Disciplines of Execution, Championing Diversity and Organizational Effectiveness Cycle. Her areas of expertise include customer service, particularly in higher education; management, adult education and instructional design, and working with technical subject matter experts. She has presented at regional HR conferences; one of her programs on managing student workers has been presented at a national conference.

She has a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and International Business from St. Edward's University, a Master's of Education from the University of Texas at Austin in the area of Curriculum and Instruction, and is currently completing her doctoral studies in Higher Education Administration at UT. She has had positions consulting on instructional and media design with faculty, staff and students at St. Edward's University and the College of Education Learning Technology Center at UT.  Elida also worked for the educational sales division of Apple Computer and was a director of online production for rightsworld.com.

Ron Mansolo is the Staff Development Coordinator for Organizational Development.  He has 20 years experience in senior management positions for several state agencies in Texas and Delaware.  In all of these positions he relied heavily on the principles of organizational behavior, employee development at all levels of an organization, and systems improvement.

Mr. Mansolo will concentrate his current efforts in the areas of Competency Development, Personnel Evaluation, and Project Management.

In addition to an undergraduate degree from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, he is a graduate of the U.S. States Army Command and General Staff College.

Michele Bennett is the Administrative Associate for Training Services. She designs and produces informational material about training and handles the administrative logistics for the training and customized classes. Michele is also involved in a variety of other administrative areas to support HRS activities, including the redesign of TXCLASS and New Employee Welcome and Orientation.

With a background in graphic design and photography, Michele has been involved with numerous desktop and Web-based projects within the office. These include participating on the teams that redesigned the HRS and TS Web sites, producing illustrations for on-line learning projects, taking photographs, and designing many flyers and training manual covers.
