Happy New Year!
I hope everyone had a great holiday and was
able to enjoy the break stress free. I was very happy to come home
and spend time with my family. Christmas was great. We spent the
holiday at my house and everyone came over. Every time my family
gets together it seems like we go crazy. My cousin got a karaoke
machine so everyone had to take turns being “pop star”
for the day. There is never a dull moment when we all get together
so we were “live” the whole day. I just wish every day
was Christmas, not for the gifts, but so the fun and happiness could
last forever.
On to more school related topics. I am so
happy I made it through one semester of college. Now I think I know
all of the things I should do in order to do much better in all
of my classes. Last semester, my last class every day didn’t
end until 3 or 3:30 p.m. My classes didn’t start until about
11 a.m., so I didn’t get up until it was time to go to class.
Then after I got out of class I would be so tired that I would take
a nap, and after that it would seem like I didn’t have any
time to do anything at all.
This semester I have scheduled my classes
so that I finish at 11 a.m. every day except Monday when I have
an evening class from 6-9 p.m. Now I can do my homework well before
the time that I used to get out of class and still have time to
do other things. I am taking five classes totaling fifteen hours
of course work. This means more hours and more classes than I had
last semester, but last semester all of my classes had discussion
sessions so it seemed like I was doing double the amount of work.
I know that I’m still listed as a Natural
Sciences student, but I have changed majors. I guess I am normal
and just figured out very quickly that the sciences were not for
me. I changed my major to early elementary education so now I have
a totally different course load. The classes I took last semester
do count towards my new major though so I don’t lose any hours,
which is great. I feel like this is a better choice for me especially
since I enjoy working with young children. My decision wasn’t
that hard since my great grandmother, my grandmother and two of
my aunts were teachers. It’s practically in my blood. Really
I think that I would benefit more by becoming a teacher because
I would be able to see my progression in the actions of my students.
We will be writing our journals for the rest
of the school year so if you have any more questions send me an
e-mail message and I will either answer you back personally or through
the journal. Enjoy the rest of your break and good luck next semester.
