How finals week feels to the average college student:
The weekend before last my parents came to visit me in Austin. Needless to say, Ive been eating pretty well for the past week. It sure feels good to have a refrigerator full of food, an apartment full of snacks, and fresh clothes (they also paid for the wash) without having to use my own money.
So I thought I was done for the day with my last post, but then I started thinking about the freshmen 15. Sure, it happens to the naive first-years that are foolish enough to go for the fried chicken from the Jester cafeteria or the Union Wendy’s, but it couldn’t happen to me. Never me. Never your trusty blogger. Sigh. I think it’s storytime.
You know you’re getting used to college when…
Its that time of year again. The time where students are waking up at eight AM dashing to their computers, skipping classes and breakfast, hoping that they will be the first to register for the classes that they so desperately need in order to graduate. Thats right! The time has come for everyone to register for classes for the 2008-2009 school year. How exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So last Wednesday morning I woke up around eight thirty and of course the very first thing I did was go to the restroom. This is a tradition that I have been executing since I can remember. However on this particular morning, there was something that was different. I walked into the restroom and my feet were covered by a pool of water. My first thought was that I had relieved myself on the floor, because it takes me awhile to wake up, but after I realized what was happening, I noticed there were droplets of water falling from my ceiling. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sitting here in the office reading an article that a friend of mine wrote and I couldnt help but tear up. For the past couple of months I have debated and gone back and forth on whether I speak out on an issue that I hold so dear to my heart. Do I speak out about an even that made me, even if for a brief moment, live my life in fear. Or, do I stand up and fight the ignorance that I encounter on a daily basis. Put simply, I choose to fight.
These past two weeks have absolutely flown by! There are only two more weeks of class left before the end of the spring semester…and the end of my undergraduate career! Ladies and gentlemen, graduation is rapidly approaching.
Hiya folks! As usual Ive away being busy with life and neglecting this tired old blog. I think I win the prize for laziest updater
I have so much to do! Despite my best efforts to stay on track this semester, I am having trouble balancing everything. My PDA is filled with appointments and things to do for the next several weeks. Finals are approaching, two research papers are due in two weeks, homework, quizzes, tests, essays, and so much more. Unfortunately, all this is just the tip of the iceberg.
