Registration
Got up early today to go to freshmen advising for the spring semester. My advisor’s appointment times were way early in the morning, my scheduled appointment was from 8:30 – 9:00. I arrived exactly on the minute, but I ended up leaving at 8:36. Luckily I had planned out all the classes I wanted to take back at the dorm.
The engineering catalog they gave me in the beginning of the semester really helped. My advisor gave me some background information about the classes that were available to me. Some of my friends have registration bars, which doesn’t allow them to register unless they meet with an advisor. I didn’t have a bar, but I just wanted to be sure my planned schedule was okay.
Next semester I want to take Differential Equations (M 427K), Engineering Computation (ASE 311), Engineering Communications (M 333), Statics (EM 306), and Engineering Design (ME 210). That adds up to a total of 15 hours. Hopefully it won’t be the hardest thing ever because I won’t be taking the next semester of physics. The next semester is electromagnetism and optics, which my current physics professor also teaches. But the thing is, Professor Ditmire specializes in “lasers,” he even does the Dr. Evil quotation marks. But the worst part about registration is being a freshman. We are last to be open for registration. I’m going to be in a couple sophomore classes, but hopefully there will be some space. I’ve got my schedule perfectly planned out, but chances are one class is going to be full and I need a new schedule.
Some of my friends who are freshmen have classes that start at 8:00 or 8:30, I don’t think I could ever go back to the high school routine of waking up at 6:30. I try to get my classes to start around 10 or 11 and have as little classtime on Fridays as possible.
Professor Ditmire is talking about glancing pool balls and velocities and angles and BB’s bouncing off boulders, so it’s time to get back physics.

I remember last year, the “M’s” registered second to last in the fall and spring. It was ridiculous. It feels good to register before some one now, though. Some things you’ve just got to wait for.
