There are those times when
I
want to give up and
I
have to stop and say

wait
Are you giving up because
you’re tired
or because someone else
is pushing you down

because the second is
never a legitimate reason
to give up.

And it’s usually a combination
of the two but mostly
just that those in the world
who would like to see me quieted are
prevailing.

No matter what those around me
say or
do or
think, sometimes
I
have to stop and make a conscious

effort

to get back to where
I
am in charge of me.
