It’s One Universal Law but Two Sides to Every Story or: Limit Speed Math Height Restriction Push (A Sestina)
Limit, speed, Math, height, restriction and push were all provided at random by members of the 14th floor.
Do you know your limits?
Do you know your speed?
Have you consulted the Math
To know how to reach the right height?
Study the restrictions,
And be careful of how you push.
But if you must push,
Push it to the limit.
Screw the restrictions.
Screw the speed.
Cause when you’ve reached the maximum height
It doesn’t matter what says the Math.
But the thing about the Math
Is that it’s never wrong, it will never push.
One way or another, you’ll get the right height.
One way or another, you’ll arrive at the limit.
Yet, depending on your speed,
The sky becomes limit, and there’s no restriction.
Life with no convention, no restriction
Life with no reason, no Math.
Life where nothing’s definite. Speed, speed, speed.
Police barricade? Push, push, push.
That’s a life that’s ideal, no rules, no limit.
Resolved, I’m take this world to new heights.
Alas! No atmosphere at such extreme heights.
The world needs restriction.
Fly. Fly high, but know the limit.
This is the best of all possible worlds, ask the Math.
He can only allow us so much room to push
Before He pushes back with the swiftest of speed.
Oh how powerful, such breakneck speed.
Such a far fall from such a great height.
That’s what you get when you incorrectly push.
That’s what you get when you don’t know the restrictions.
That’s what you get when you try to manipulate the Math.
Thus is the danger of pushing to the limit.
I urge you, reach a new speed, redraw the restriction,
Redefine the maximum height, have faith in the Math,
Push yourself to the limit.
