When I Wake Up In The Morning Love and The Sunshine Hurts My Eyes or: When You’re On a Roll, You’re On a Roll
When I wake up in the morning love,
And then sunshine flutters in lightly from above,
I know somehow it’s gonna be a good day.
When I take the elevator down,
And not a pitiful soul around,
I know it’s gonna be okay.
When I get to Government and she sits next to me,
And says she’s happy she woke up early,
I know the good times are here to stay.
All this followed by a leisurely walk to Psych,
All the while not having to dodge a speeding bike,
I know the Gods are at play.
Easy day at the office with Eddie,
Preparing presentations for all to see,
Clouds outside. Cloudy day go away.
Easy course de Francais,
Qui n’est jamais mouvais,
She even forgot to give the quiz today.
On to UT Basketball with friends from 14,
A Baylor win came to me in a dream,
Although I wanted Curtis to also have his day.
Whataburger soon follows, what would I do without that Prius?
Even passed Tyler and Ryan again, I’m sure they didn’t see us;
A few more minutes is all we had to stay.
Yet, here in Starbucks again I sit,
Thinking this is as good as time’s gonna get.
1 a.m., homework still to do.
Still I sit here, writing to all of you.
Enjoying my Cinnamon-Dulce White-Mocha Latte,
Reminiscing on the events of (technically) yesterday,
I can’t help but wonder if these good times are here to stay.
As Bill Withers radio on Pandora sends me away.
To the land of homework; A Room With a View and Madame Bovary.
