Last week Jim Turley, the CEO of Ernst and Young, came and spoke as part of my beloved Business Council’s VIP: Distinguished speaker series. It ended up that McCombs wanted someone on council to blog about it for their site, and guess who got the honor — yours truly! Check it outttttttttttttt.
After waiting for what seemed like a lifetime, I learned last week that I was indeed accepted in the Archer Program for the Fall 2010 semester! I received the email at like 1 p.m. last Friday and all I could do was smile. I knew that this was perhaps the biggest moment of my college career.
A few months ago the thought of having a website never even crossed my mind, but after coming across a ‘build your own website’ website I decided it may be time to take my business a step further. I figured my business, providing DJ services to the UT & Austin community, could use a website because I may take next semester off to do a co-op and I risk losing communication with campus organizations which are one of my biggest clients. A website would be a good way to promote myself to them without having to be there.

I realize this is going to make me sound old, but it has to be said: What is WITH kids today? Does nobody have manners anymore? When did they quit teaching us to say please, thank you, and excuse me?
I am now the proud contributor of THREE blogs, yes three!
- of course: Longhorn Confidential — www.utexas.edu/inside_ut/lconf/author/evelyn0910
- Leadership Program (work) — http://blogs.mccombs.utexas.edu/leadership
- HEASPA (student organization) — http://blogs.utexas.edu/heaspa
I’m really excited that UT is transitioning to blogs, with the trend started by our very own Longhorn Confidential! Blogs allow us to manage the site without having to bombard the IT staff with minor requests.
Spring break was not as memorable as my fellow bloggers, but I was rather productive! Wedding planning is in full force — all the addressing, stamping, sealing of invitations is now complete, whew! Hard to believe that there are only 7 more weeks in the school year, and 7 more weeks until I get married. Honeymoon flights were booked last week — Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary — HERE I COME!
Must focus on a paper due Monday….
What do you get when you mix the following:
- 28 hours in a car
- High winds
- 3 people squeezed in a bed meant for 1
- Lots of permanent marker Xs
- Sooo much seafood
- And a ton of amazing friends, old and new?
Wow, so it’s been a while and there are many things to share.

Let’s get one thing straight right now. I don’t party. Spring break on the beach with thousands of other drunk college students? Not my cup of tea.
Yeah, I love basketball, but my hope for a national championship lies with a new hero on campus — Nick Caporale. He is representing UT Austin in the Rock-Paper-Scissors National Tournament! More power to you Nick, thanks for keeping Austin weird!!

Little known fact: I walked away from a full scholarship at the University of North Carolina to pay my way through UT.
