Today, I had dinner at J2 (Jester’s all-you-care-to-eat buffet). On my way out of the eating establishment, I grabbed an Granny Smith apple like I always do and I also grabbed an ice cream cone. Yes, I know the ice cream cancels out the “healthiness” of the apple. And yes, I know that it’s December and cold outside so ice cream is probably not the best idea.
With finals week consuming the minds and hearts of UT students, a study break is in order. Check out Fourteen Actors Acting. After this semester, I can definitely relate to the rage, fear, and despair the actors express silently yet so potently.
The screen test format reminds me of Andy Warhol’s screen tests, some of which were released last year in a DVD format as 13 Most Beautiful…Songs for Andy Warhol Screen Tests. The DVD is available at the FAL: DVD 8662. You can watch the screen tests either without sound, as Warhol intended. Or with the music of Dean & Britta, which creates a beautiful atmosphere as in case of Nico’s screen test.
Music also heightens the drama of Fourteen Actors Acting, particularly with Matt Damon and Javier Bardem. Perhaps if we scream along with both actors we can release some finals-related stress. Just make sure your dinner is off the table before you go smashing it up.
Well, with the fall semester nearly behind us, the holidays are beginning and I for one just cannot wait. For me, the celebrating started on Monday, when the UT Speech Team had its annual Christmas (or Holiday) Party.
