Hey Guys,

When I was in 8th Grade, my Algebra 1 teacher used to start every class with a joke to break the ice, so I am going to follow her brilliance and give a brief joke:

“Three (insert preferred football team) were sitting together in a park, all of a sudden one of them jumped up, started running in circles and yelling ‘45! 45! 45!’ An elderly man walked up and asked, ‘What’s all the fuss about?’ One of the (insert preferred football team) looked up at him and said ‘We just finished this jigsaw puzzle! The box said 2 to 3 years and we finished it in 45 days!’”

Let me now start by saying that I am very excited to be given this opportunity. I can’t wait to share with you all my year and hope to keep everybody entertained. I guess you may want some background information about me:

So as you know, I’m Landon and I am currently a junior majoring in Government and Geography. I am from DeKalb, Texas, (I will reference this often in future posts) a small town in northeast Texas. I say that I am a Government/Geography major but that is only part of my journey at this point. When I entered the 40 Acres, I was a Biology Major. After one semester I became a Government major. Starting my second year I decided that I may like to add an International and Global Studies degree into the mix and have now finally settled on Government and Geography. My mother would like for me to say at this point that this is what I have finally decided to stick with, but sorry mom, I am still exploring my options and not closing any windows.

I am currently involved with multiple organizations on campus and have met some of the most amazing people in each and every one of them! I am currently a part of Liberal Arts Council, Senate of College Councils, Liberal Arts College Tuition and Budget Advisory Committee, and University Service Corp. I’m sure that I will be discussing each of these more in the future.

I love being active on campus because I want all generations of future Longhorns to be allowed the same great privileges and opportunities that I have been awarded. My family always taught me that it was important to get involved and give back, so I am trying my best to give back to the university that has given me so many great opportunities.

This year is hopefully going to be another great year of personal growth and I am hoping to share all of it with you. What I have shared so far is just a small part of my life journey that has led me to this point. I can’t wait to share more of my past memories with you all and future adventures that are yet to happen. Hopefully you all can learn with me and we can have a couple of laughs along the way.

Ciao and Hook’em!
