Keep Leadership Weird
Ahh my dear Longhorn Confidential readers, I am terribly sorry for my drought in writing. The past few weeks have been consumed with work, luckily all fantastic events!
Last weekend, I served as a team leader for the Hatton W. Sumners Student Leadership Conference hosted by the Center for Ethical Leadership and the LBJ School of [...]
For never was a story of more woe, than this of Juliet and her Romeo
Oh lordy, how many times have I seen Romeo and Juliet? My fiance was in a production last summer (Austin Shakespeare at Zilker Park). It was a fantastic production in a really wonderful outdoor venue, but there are only so many times that a girl can watch her boyfriend confess his love for Juliet (even if it [...]
Olympic Fever!
I love the Olympics! Guess this is the Sport Management side of me coming out, but I love the competition, pageantry, nationalism, etc. I had a few professors at UT who worked for the Olympics in Sydney — how cool is that? Tonight, I’m so proud that my Austria won a gold medal!! Woo hoo!
When I studied abroad [...]
NOT THE CACTUS!
Horrible news has hit The University of Texas campus this evening. Our beloved Cactus Cafe will close in August due to budget cuts at the Texas Union. THIS IS A TRAVESTY PEOPLE! The Cactus Cafe is the venue where many famous Austin artists began their careers: Lyle Lovett, David Garza, Nanci Griffith, Lucinda Williams, Shawn Colvin [...]
Grad School Blues
I can’t believe this semester is starting up! Some of my dear friends from the Longhorn Band days came over for dinner tonight. We had a very interesting conversation about graduate school at UT-Austin. Students in the College of Education and the School of Social Work are facing some of the strictest budgets on campus.
Lime Juice and Sunshine
I spent the last week on a cruise to Mexico with the fiance’s family! Oh yeah, it was fabulous! Plenty of time to sleep, read and get sunburned. I’m definitely one of the palest people I know, but I managed a bit of a suntan as well as a strange mark on my leg.
Live the Dream Again
I’m sure that I will post again about football, seeing as the National Championship is this week. When I saw this sign, I knew that my Longhorn Confidential readers would enjoy the message:
Oh crazy Texans and their football! Hook Em Horns!
YAY BIRTHDAY!
Ahhh the first day that staff is back on campus. This week is very slow on campus — no students, no faculty, but the trusty staff is here!
Chicago and more!
It may not have been the best time to schedule a vacation, but the weekend before finals was a gorgeous time to visit Chicago!
Educational Administration
Shameless plug for my graduate program!!
I am getting a Master’s in College and University Student Personnel Administration through the College of Education. Long title, but basically I get to have one of the best career fields I can think of! People in my program work in various areas of campus — financial aid, development, student affairs, [...]
